FINALLY IS ARNOLD GOING TO HIS NEW FAMILY

 These pictures were taken by me when I visited a shelter run by the Government back in January 2016 me thinks. Anyway, I saw him right away and fell in love. Finally, I can tell you that I am flying over and bringing him with me back to Germany.

 He is a handsome Senior that should not sit in a place like this. No one should, and I am doing my best to find a solution. It takes time, it shouldn't but it does. Drives my heart into sadness since time is going so fast and the dogs are having shorter life than we got.

 These is the place. Its smelly and horrible. I have been told that they are making some small changes. Cannot wait to see that in June.

 They are euthanising some of the dogs, but only when they need a new cage, then the oldest or the sickest goes.

Help me make changes for the other dogs there. That's Amore!

NEVER GIVE UP ON ANYONE

In January this year did I fly and visit  Portugal. Mafalda and Rachel from their organisation welcomed me warmly, and showed me around in their beautiful colourful home of Lisbon.

Also, as I wanted, they took me to the backside of dog treatments, that no tourists ever sees.

I got to visit the death shelter. It is a very dark place which you never want to enter, afraid of not getting the images away that are glued behind your eyes.
I cried!

Yes I cried, and I let myself cry. That means I am still aware of the problem, and want to do something about it.

Inside there are no air! Boxes with high concrete walls. They never get outside, never get to see the light. This is a Town hall shelter, with people employed. I wondered for myself how their inner mind must look like after days, months and years working here. Do they tell them the up lifting stories that they are actually doing a change for the dogs? The euthanise of dogs are high--and don't tell me that is the solution or its "good" for the dog. Its a never ending story....dogs after dogs after dogs are being killed.

A couple of days later, I flew out with two dogs, to a wonderful home in Sweden. They were the lucky ones.

I want to do more! Take all dogs out and just eliminate the whole place.

I found Pat (picture below) that is one boy they wanted to euthanise. I saw his eyes.

Life was still there!

I wanted him.

This was January. Today it is December! It took me 11 months to get him out.

He is safe now! At a place were people love animals. Bruna is part of this Association that try to make it better for the animals in Portugal.

We sent 300 euro donation for Pat where he it staying in a  Dog kennel, with great food and free fields. We are getting updates about him very often. (money is for bathing-- you can believe how he smells after years in a concrete box-- veterinarian treatment and the rent to wonderful Bruna Rescue Kennel)

A WONDERFUL DAY AT THE ITALIAN SHELTER

Our great volunteer Bianca Lopez went to our Animal Friends Shelter to help out. Think so much happiness and greatness you explore by visiting them. Never an unthankful soul.

Plenty of kisses and tail wagging .

Live the fullest, never lose Hope, maybe the new owner is around the corner.

Playing and cleaning are the right combination in life. They are my best Mindfulness Teacher.

Exercise even when you feel locked in. It keeps your brain going.

                                    No Pity Party at our Place Please. It never helps anyone.

It is Never to Late

 In 2008 i got a phone call to help a shelter that was totally falling apart, dogs being abused, they were standing up to their stomachs in poo and pee. They drank moulded water, lack of food.

It was horrible. It is images I still carry around in my heart and mind. Its nothing you wipe off and go to bed. However, I learned that life is not black and white. Sometimes you cannot rescue everyone. Sometimes we learn more about ourselves and other people. You meet people that teach you what you don't want to become. You met new people that you start new goals with.

We went to the shelter and the owner got a slap on her wrist by the judge for treating the animals badly. The woman changed her name and started a new shelter somewhere else together with other people in the front.

We Awl went in and cleaned and delivered food and veterinarian care. 2009 AWL took 10 dogs and another shelter Leda Ass, took 20 dogs. The other 20-30 dogs went to a townhall shelter.

Otello in the picture went with Leda Ass. and 2010 our paths changed directions until 2016 when I visited Leda in their new nice shelter. To my very big surprise Otello now 14 years old is still in the cage. NO ONE wanted to adopt him.
My heart just broke. 

This weekend we posted him on here, and to my and Leda Ass delight, we got a home for him. <3 span="">

Tomorrow you can read my column about him and his journey, his advice to us humans. 

The woman that are adopting him, loves Seniors, and knows what it takes and means. No hearts are to old to love. Its like being old and beautiful as human and not dare to find a partner again, because "he might just die soon"

If you don't live the fullest, you will miss the beauty.

Otello is now getting ready with his shots and health tests for upcoming pet passport. WE think and hope he will be ready to travel VIP --no flying--in 30 days.

 <3 span=""> Its never to late to love an old heart. Just because we get old doesn't mean we suddenly stop to live and love. Would we say that to elderly people, "sorry you are to old to love now, "he" will probably die in one year"

No! Live the fullest, and its when you stop loving you become old.

Plan Your Rescue Mission

When you rescue a dog from the streets and brings him to a shelter, make sure you got a time plan. 

Many dogs are happy on the streets when being healthy and looked after. 

 Some "happy" street dogs ends up in cages for many years,up to 7-14 years! 

Shelter Sunday

Todays shelter day at Rosellas place. Nicky, Chris, Bianca, Lauren and Neil of course other wonderful volunteers spent Sunday helping out. Cleaning, brushing and loving up on those that sits behind bars.

Bianca was so happy to see Nicky again. Brushed and getting out to walk. Green grass, thats life.

King was found by a volunteer very sick and probably abused. He is doing progress and this time our volunteer could brush him. We want to adopt him and got a wonderful home. However, the rescue woman doesn't want to adopt him outside Italian border.

We are heartbroken about this decision!

Heading down to Napels Italy Shelter Mission

MISSION TIME

With my best volunteer we drove down to Napoli, Italy again. We were so exited and with the SUV full of dog food that we bought in Germany, we were even more exited. --Thank you for your donations, we cannot do this without your help.

We picked up beautiful Nicky and brought her with us to Rossella Shelter. A shelter AWL helped during 2009-2010 and now we are back. Rossella had moved and her shelter was top. Nice and clean.

Its a tough job carrying all these heavy bags...but who said we couldn't. Getting nice summer arms.

As always so many beautiful souls. This guy was so happy to get love and company. He is waiting for his home.

Rossella has worked with rescuing dogs for over 30 years. Amazing since it is a very tough work with no salary.

The Best Christmas News Ever

 Just for a couple of days I posted Iris searching after a home. Christmas Eve, I had promised myself not to be on FB or checking my emails. Disappointed and frustrated I had to admit, it was darn hard not to check. I tried to comfort myself that I only had to check three times during the whole day.

Wow, what is happening to us!

However, I am so glad I did. The best Christmas news was laying there waiting for my approval.

A family in Stockholm, Sweden wanted to adopt Iris, would I say yes to them?

Amazing news....Iris is out from the horrible shelter and now in a foster home, the mom that rescued her ones.

WONDERFUL ENGLISH SETTERS UP FOR ADOPTION

 ENGLISH SETTERS are a very common breed in south Italy used for hunting. They are overbreed and got not much status and are being abandon in woods or on streets. English Setters are being well known for being wonderful family dogs, their positive, happy, loyal and very good with children. 

Dalma is 4 years old and was found abandon on the field/streets. Many hunters from south Italy abandon their English Setters when not useful anymore.
Dalma is sweet and will become a great family member. Great with other dogs. She is a sweet heart.
Now she is in an outdoor shelter and we would so much want for her to find her forever home before it becomes to cold out there.

She is steralised, vaccinated, de wormed, leaichmania and heartwormtested, and will have her own passport.

 Below is beautiful Lisa, a Senior lady with so much to still give.

 LISA was being used to breed many litters of puppies for many years locked in a cage. When no longer being to any use she was being dumped.

Lisa is a Senior dog that only wants a family, someone that can see her enourmus loving heart. She is adorable, sweet and humble and have still so much to give. English Setters are being well known to be such a loving family dogs and becoming old.

Since many English Setters are being abandon from hunters we have been successful to find them homes. And all the families are saying the same 'they never knew before how fantastic they were'

Leiscmania tested, steralised, vaccinated, de wormed, comes with her own passport.

DOGS WITHOUT HOMES

This is Friki from Toscana, Italy. You can see she is not a big dog, 15 kg.
She was abandon by her family. After 4 years they didn't have time anymore.
She has been in the shelter for 6 months and doesn't understand what she did wrong?

She is loving and affectionate, she is constantly searching for contact. Sometimes she can become a little jealous since she is afraid of being replaced. Right now she is living together with other dogs.

She is sterilized, vaccinated, leichmania and heart-worm tested = negative.

 Sweet Olivia, soon to be one year old from Toscana Italy. She was found on the streets scared and lonely. Olivia is a small dog only 7 kg.

She is adorable and a little lovely brat and not afraid of anything. She is a dog with energy and would love to go to dog school. Olivia love attention and to be cuddled, a lovely friend to snuggle with and be out hiking with.

Olivia is steralized, vaccinate and tested for leischmania and heart-worm = negative

She can go to the perfect home: Northern Italy, Germany and Sweden

 They call her Neve, that means snow in Italian.
Her owner took her one night and threw her over a fence into a small open shelter with dogs inside. The dogs attacked her.
Neve is 1 year old and full of love. Sensitive and need a warm family/person that will see her in her eyes and promise she can stay.
She will this week be sterilized, vaccinated and tested for leischmania.

She can go to the perfect home in Italy, Germany or Sweden.

Baglico was found outside a gypsy camp in Portugal, disoriented and with burns in his face.

He had got acid splashed to his face. Wonderful volunteers brought him to the veterinarian for treatment. Today he is doing fine however he needs a home before the cold winter is coming.
A house with a fenced in garden would be genial. Calm loving family, maybe an older person.
Balgico is calm and sweet, only 25 cm and 7/8kg.
Tested negative for leischmania and heart-worm.

Can go to the perfect home in Germany and Sweden
