Why hurt someone whose only intention was only to love you.
Stella Nutella was a "happy" street dog. She loved the people that fed her everyday, and gave her a pet or a belly rub now and then. Until that day when people started to build on the land she lived on.
Many of her dog friends, disappeared, some got poisoned. Stella didn't want to leave, she loved people so much. The workers started to throw rocks at her.
This is Trooper Rescue Dog. We rescued him from a shelter, he rescued us with Love, we rescued him from Cancer.
Yes! Our beloved Trooper is Cancer Free!
A couple of months ago he was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer in his urine bladder. The veterinarian said he only had a short time on this Earth. Devastated we went home, of course together with Trooper.
Last week, I got a very important question from a friend.
"Are you becoming more an adoption organisation now? I thought you didn't want it that way!"
I love this friend, since she dares to ask me honest questions.
It could seem like we are becoming more an adoption organisation, since lately we have helped many dogs finding wonderful homes in Sweden.
AWL will help those dogs that comes in our way, on our path to our next mission/project, a Hospice in Toscany.
We are working and planing behind the curtains on our new Hospice 2017. Nothing can keep me away from that goal, together with some great Animal Friends.
However, during our planning moments, we cannot stop helping animals that are trapped in cages for years, or found on the streets in bad shapes. Many fantastic families are waiting to open their doors for them. Why not help souls to happiness while planning a bigger cause!
The Hospice is my life, my love, my goal and together we can create a fantastic environment for those poor soles that are trapped forever in cages, that no ones sees. Seniors, that some people doesn't think have any value. For them to have their own bedroom, a garden to spend relaxing time, and healthy food. But most important, someone that will love them back as much as they love us.
When its time for the animals to leave Mother Earth, to help them cross the bridge to the other side --together with a great veterinarian team.
Picked up this handsome boy from a foster Tonya. Fluke is adorable cuddling sweet heart, but doesn't like to be left home alone!
We hope his new mom will have the patient but he is so sweet and adorable ❤️ Giada rescued him from the street, Tonya fostered him, Mia drove down and picked him up, found a home and will bring him home to Sweden. Good luck everyone Team Work!
Just for a couple of days I posted Iris searching after a home. Christmas Eve, I had promised myself not to be on FB or checking my emails. Disappointed and frustrated I had to admit, it was darn hard not to check. I tried to comfort myself that I only had to check three times during the whole day.
Wow, what is happening to us!
However, I am so glad I did. The best Christmas news was laying there waiting for my approval.
A family in Stockholm, Sweden wanted to adopt Iris, would I say yes to them?
Amazing news....Iris is out from the horrible shelter and now in a foster home, the mom that rescued her ones.

The year 2009We found her locked into a construction site. There were people but no one gave her food. I put on my black tights and black hood and got her out. She pooped grass. I took her to a veterinarian who screamed that we had to euthanize this dog. It was probably full of diseases! I don't keep animals alive only to have them suffering, but I know that sometimes we have a tendency to look too much with our eyes. The vet then said, this dog would cost a lot of money medical wise. It was cheaper to euthanize the dog. I refused. My mind and heart said something else. We changed veterinarian. Tests were being made...no diseases! I found a family, a fantastic family. They never had any excuses to leave her behind even if they moved around the world. No excuse even when they got a child.
Still today, I get pictures of Brandy, she is aging full of love.

Genni our volunteer together with her adopted Senior Dog, Luce went and gave a presentation on keeping animals safe and keeping children safe around animals to her daughters Girl Scout troop so they could earn a safety badge. " I used my AWL yellow bag and talked about where Lucy came from. As always, Lucy is a super star. I brought my stethoscope and all of the children got to listen to Lucy's heart beat and of course give her lots of love and attention. " Genni heart emoticon
What an inspiration
Luce was a former hunting dog locked into an outside basement without electricity or heat for 10 years.
Her owner died and the rest of the family didn't want Luce and drove her to the state shelter. We found a home for her here in Germany, the wonderful family Genni (USA)
She was full of cancer and AWL sponsored her surgeries. For over two years now has she been healthy and a big star among children....teaching them....it's never to late, even if you are a Senior Dog!
AWL is a big Senior lover and when we received this pictures it was a lot of "awe"
We want to wish all our supporters a great 2015 and at the same time thank you all for your wonderful support during 2014. We coulnd't have done anything without you, and that is so true.
When we rescue an animal its because of your donations. You are the one that determine how many we can rescue and what we can do to help the animal. Surgery, medicine and rehab foster.
This year we hope to make more miracles, and also the hard thing...to let a sick animal go to the other side when nothing more can be done.
I am not much for New Years Eve promises, but I do promise myself and you followers to become better in updating this blog.
What a fighter our little Angy(o) Johny is. Amazingly. Only a couple of days ago was he dying.
A surgery was being made, they had many organs mixed into each other. Reconstruct some.
Thanks to a wonderful animal team (volunteers) Angelina and her family that brought him to Arco Felice. Our little one can today go home to foster home and be under strong observation. Still the danger is not over.
He can eat small peaces every meal.

However, it is a complicated surgery so we beg for prayers and light.

go to recovery. If more money is over we have a new heartbreaking story that I

3 March 2014 URGENT!
Last Sunday morning,
was this little one picked up from the road. Hurt, internal
wounds and in bad shape.
He is just a puppy, 7 months old, weighs 5 kg .
Our volunteer Angelina and her sister saw him right away, they
stopped the car and picked him up from the traffic street. Every one else just
passed him.
He tried to eat, just a little bit of baby food. Suddenly the
puppy started to vomiting, having difficulty breathing.
Angy and sister drove him to the ER clinic, Villa Felice, that
immediately gave him oxygen to help him breathe.
Analysis , visits, hospitalization donations: he has a diaphragmatic
hernia , needs urgent surgery, which is risky, but he will not survive without
help.
Appampacchia Ambigginella and her sister have not stepped back
.. but the surgery is expensive, € 300--500.
Please help us to urgent collect the money for the little one.
Lets give him a chance in life.

The lovely couple Martina and Pio rescued this dog and named him Ettore. Outside their house is a small piece of land, only fenced in dirt. Inside there are three dogs, locked in. When I was down working I got the honor to met him, such a big boy, sweet and goofy.
Yesterday did Pio drive him to Dr Damiani clinic for examination. Ettore was lovely there, only wanted to greet people with his big paw.

When Ettore is done with his medication and the blood test results are back he will go up North to start a new life. That's Amore.
Up on Mount Vesuvius, are there many strays and even more dumped dogs with collars, ear tattoos, or even microchip. Apparently, it is easy to go up there, open the door and kick out your best friend, the dog. And many times the people even do it during day light.
The place is full of hungry and sick dogs. The volunteers doesn't know where to start to help.
I read many cries for help on Facebook, and the pictures are many times simply heart-breaking. You can feel their pain and see it in their eyes. Once loved, now they are just one of the garbage bags.
Martina- helps me communicate with the Italian rescue people about what is many times a hard choice to make: "who to chose to help?" Martina and I seem to have the same thinking process. It is also nice to have someone else to share the pain of not being able to help more deserving souls (and the joy of success when it happens).
And so, last night we got one new client to our hospice Casa dell' Amore.
One of the cast-offs found on the volcano Vesuvius. She is very sick! Two ladies drove her to a veterinarian clinic where she had an examination and blood test done. She is suffering a high fever and a severe case of leishaminiosis. Her medicine prescription looks like Santa's Christmas wish list; but her true wish is only to be loved again and healthy.
Thanks to a wonderful family before moving from here, we got a nice big sofa in one of the rooms upstairs at the hospice. We put a warm blanket --- that someone had lovingly donated--- over the sofa and Martina brought up food and water that this little near skeleton ate with a good appetite. She is so tiny!
But we all love her so dearly, already. When you open the door to her room you can hear her tail go off at 50km/h. She is so petit, loving and only wants you to sit together with her and hold her. I don't know if my heart aches out of love or pain since I see what she has gone through.
We named her HOPE!
Thank you rescue ladies for giving her a voice on FB, thank you wonderful Martina for spending all the time on the phone with them, and making sure they came to our hospice. Your heart is so big and beautiful, every day it is a pleasure working together with you. And you never ask anything in return, never! To all you who donate money or things to AWL, this is thanks to you that we can save and rescue and love the dogs. Without YOU we are nothing. You are the Amore. Thank you.
Lola was rescued from the street by Martina, and is a lovely gentle Setter. My children loves her, and she is so patience with them. Lola was lucky...or were we luckier?
This little guy had a chain that went into his skin. He is in a bad shape.
Wounded in a shelter is a common picture. This little fellow will probably die a slowly death caged in. Its a cry for help!
Olivia and Max loves dogs and these two dogs were so sweet towards them. Once again very patience towards my children. That is Amore, and I wish everyone could at least have some kind of dignity and Amore.
Well for Athena it hasn't turned out so very well for. I am frustrated since AWL got a problem that we didn't ask for and we made clear in the begining that we only would help with medical bills. Now, I am so sad because this girl Athena doesn't deserve to sit locked in a cage, she had it great with her freedom. She got fed, she had her partner and most important her freedom. But some people didn't like to see her in an abandoned car--with broken glass--with K9 dogs they practise to walk on smashed car window glass and its not dangerous for their paws.
The "rescuers" saw the scars and thought it was from the car but it was actually from dog teeth, and they were old scars. As you read they were in Rita's garage and Athena defended her bone when her partner wanted to take it. That is so very "normal." I wasn't there when it happened, but those involved were upset and Athena was the one to be blamed. She slept outside in a crate as you can see in the video with her partner in the garage. Many times this sort of interaction between animals sounds worse and we get scared, its like hearing two adults arguing in a different language. Because you don't understand what is being said, it sounds worse than it is. We don't know what the dogs are saying, but it sounds bad. But think about it, if they wanted to kill each other it would have happened already, and how could they live together outside in their freedom with no problems?
Rescuing dogs in distress or bad situations is a nobel thing. But like anything, it should be done with cold calculation, not in the moment of high emotion, or solely with your heart. When rescuing, you have to have many different plans. And, unless you are an expert, why not get advice from someone who knows a lot about strays? I have heard people say "I have had dogs my whole life!" But how many of them were strays you rescued? I have been cooking for 30 years but I am not a chef!
AWL is against putting dogs in shelters and here I am with a dog someone rescued and dumped in our lap. No foster homes, no adoptive homes, we can't take her in. She can't go back on the street, especially without her partner. No donations are even given to help defray the costs, only silence from the rescue people who were so happy on Facebook that they had "rescued" dogs. Where are they now? Where is the "follow-through"?
I was visiting her today and walked her, she is wonderful --- so loving and gentle. It is dangerous when someone starts a rumor that destroys the possibilities for a dog's future. Much the same for when people talk bad about another human, and start unfounded rumors. If you are going to play "rescuer", get the facts straight! I have so many stories about people screwing things up for the animals, and I still get many emails from good people who are being dumped on with others' problems.
What is worse, in Cumberlain County (NC, USA) 800 dogs euthanized every month, or the ones roaming free in Campania, Italy?
So thanks to some "bleeding hearts" who thought it was uncomfortable watching this pair in an abandoned car...look at this picture...this is the result of your actions!

At 08.30 this morning, AWL got a phone call. It was Angie.
With an upset voice she told there was a young boxer dog that was in a terrible shape, only skin and bones. She would not survive without immediate help from AWL.
Via cell phone and computer pictures was being sent; sure she really needed help.
Hanging teets! No milk! Todd and Angie picked her up with the SUV.
No veterinarians are open today! Angie had her in her garage over the night. We named her Sully.
AWL will take her into the veterinarian clinic first thing tomorrow morning. Please keep Sully in your thoughts and hearts. Thank you Angie and Todd
