Amazing warrior Queen greeted me at the veterinarian door only a couple of hours after waking up. Think if we humans had the same capacity !

I want to show you how she looked like when I found her and after some time together with us. What an amazing difference. She has so much energy for being an senior, I hope I get the same kind of amount when I become a Senior ;-)

The Best Christmas News Ever

 Just for a couple of days I posted Iris searching after a home. Christmas Eve, I had promised myself not to be on FB or checking my emails. Disappointed and frustrated I had to admit, it was darn hard not to check. I tried to comfort myself that I only had to check three times during the whole day.

Wow, what is happening to us!

However, I am so glad I did. The best Christmas news was laying there waiting for my approval.

A family in Stockholm, Sweden wanted to adopt Iris, would I say yes to them?

Amazing news....Iris is out from the horrible shelter and now in a foster home, the mom that rescued her ones.

GREETINGS FROM FORMER RESCUED DOG VASILI

 The best part of rescuing dogs is of course when we get greetings from our former rescued dogs.
Vasili was found in a shelter very sick. Our Hospice brought him out and started working with him. He was a sweet heart...and he is an even bigger sweet heart now. A wonderful family in Northern Italy adopted him.
We couldn't be more happy. And, we know he is the happiest boy!

 Good Luck little one with a new chapter in your new life. We are so exited.

 Minnie was a Puppy Mill breeding dog. For years she was producing puppies and living in horrible conditions. When found she was a depressed, only 5 kg and very sick. For 10 years had she been a machine. When she became "to old" they threw her out in a garden together with a big puppy that was bothering her the whole time.
We found her and brought her into our Hospice. Slowly, with the right food, veterinarian care, surgery and love, she trusted us and was so loving, and funny.

It was bittersweet to let her go, but our work was done....now a new chapter started with only love in it. Minnie is now together with her own new family up in Northern Italy that only want to love her, and receive love back.

 Anna, the adopter, is from Rome, working as a journalist for a newspaper She had a dachshund, that died some time ago. Her boyfriend is a veterinarian and he has a small female dog. Mozart and her are best friends.

RESCUED IN ITALY, RESTING IN GERMANY LEAVING FOR SWEDEN

Gaby our sweet-heart that we have posted about several times is now finally going to her furever home in Sweden.
She was rescued in Italy by Martina and Pio, stayed at the hospice, brought up by Mia to Germany and now we found the perfect home for her. She is going to Sweden!

I know the new 'mom' and her extra "mom" and know it couldn't be better. Gabelino will will have a wonderful, fantastic, creative and lovely spoiled life.

When they met, we will post lovely pictures, we promise. Only wanted to share the good news!

SUNDAY ROSE OUR MIRACLE DOG

You have been able to read about Sunday Rose from earlier blog entries. Rescued from a water field ditch, with borelia, leichaminiosis, and underweight.

She was close to death. when Dr April found her and took her in to her clinic. Treatment started and AWL answered on her request for help, our Hospice stepped in.

We loved her this little bird looking dog, we continued medication and gave her good nutrition food
To our great news she is now with a lovely lady who adopts dogs with disabilities. Rosie is now living in Northern Italy living her dream life. Rosie is blind but finds her way around the house brilliant. This is Amore!

BONITA --- SHE MADE IT!

What a roller coaster ride for Bonita, we and her owner Mia in Sweden. But we finally made it!

Finally, after over one year struggling with this lady, we got all the "green" papers for the passport. Bonita, remember her close-to-death in a shelter, and we got her out. She spent so much time at different animal clinics and her foster parents David and Linda Bunn took her into their home for a very long time. They really made sure her health and spirit would be better.

Finally all her papers were ready for a passport. A whole year it took! Mia in Gothenburg, Sweden never gave up hope and that perseverance showed us what a great person she is. This past weekend, I flew in Bonita and another dog, "Freckles", and Mia drove down from Gothenburg (a four hour drive) to get her girl. When I walked out of the car carrying Bonita, Mia burst out in tears, sobbing and shaking, and we all hugged each other for joy.


Bonita got to meet her new man, Quinton, a sweet and gentle Pitt bull, and off they went to Bonita's new Paradizzo in Sweden's "second city" of Gothenburg.

And it sure is Paradizzo! Bonita has taken to her new home like a fish to water! We are so happy for you Bonita; your long struggle in a shelter, so close to death, is history. This is Amore.

Thank you Dr. Damiani for all your help and support with Bonita and others. David and Lynn, your support has been exceptional! You helped save a life!. And thanks to my family for making her last month in our home relaxing and comfortable (I sure miss her loud snoring!) and new momma Mia for never giving up on her girl. Lastly, for all the donations that helped Bonita get her health back, and finally into the loving arms of a forever home. We love and thank you all.

LIFE TRANSFORMATION

One day, several months ago there was a little male dog --- just skin and bones --- carried in to Rosella's shelter. Due to his apparent pain and hunger, he was aggressive. From his penis came bubbly fluid, he looked horrible, I have to say.

At that time there was a veterinarian at the shelter, and I brought her to the cage were he was laying.

" Help him" I said!

She couldn't get close to him, he snapped like a barracuda.
We (AWL) had a group of volunteers there walking and cleaning dogs, and some of them got upset, they wanted him to be put to sleep.

One offered to pay for the medical treatments at a veterinarian clinic. But we couldn't get close to the dog, he flew at us with his sharp teeth and then curled back up in his little box.
Rosella was also afraid that the vet clinic would put him to sleep because they would say it was more humane for him.

What could I do? It was her shelter, her dog.....we provide her with some medicine but not all, we gave some boxes of antibiotics. I have to admit it also crossed my mind to put him to sleep, but I respected Rosellas's wish, and did what we could.

I'm happy to say that Rosella did it, together with her volunteers. A wonderful surprise.....Merlin got well, and he is now in a loving home. Enjoy the pictures below!
