WALKING, BATHING, CLEANING, FEEDING SHELTER MISSION

Another wonderful loving day at Rossella shelter last Saturday morning, we gave many as possible a bath and love

Remember a month ago the sad picture of a very sick Fiore. Here he is, doing so much better its amazing. Now they could cut of all his horrible fur.

And more love, and bathing...it was a bittersweet moment. It is always heartbreaking to put them back in their cages. But with love and stimulation they have a better luck to find a home.

We brought the dog food that had been donated earlier in the week with us.

And yes, the twins Shelly and Gabby were working really hard and beautiful. They carried, bathed, and walked the shelter dogs, and the whole time with a great attitude. Thank you so much Shelly and Gabby, have a safe trip back to the States.

And our trooper volunteer Olivia, who took out the mother and gave her a break and a bath. Of course some Amore afterwards to.

Olivia so wanted to take out Tiger and have him washed. For 30 minutes she was standing by his cages yelling....we gave up and Leah helped her. Thanks Leah for treats and the hard work, it is always a pleasure having you with us in the team.

Aha, Yolanda well that was a hard working woman. She even washed the cages. Yolanda, you rock! Thank you so much for giving these dogs a very good day.

And we carried and carried, and we also had some medicine with us...not much but it will help some. (Leah had all the colourful leaches around her neck)

ANOTHER HELPING DAY AT THE SHELTER

Melissa joined AWL in the dog walk, a very windy day, but it was sunny.

Puppies make us smile and bond together. Everyone loved Star Stripe! He is up for adoption!

Even Olivia wanted to bring him home....she already have 17 dogs....so mom said NO!!!

Leah walked Phillipo who is waiting after two years in this shelter to come home to his new owner Ulla in Stockholm ,Sweden.

Thank you all for giving your time and love to these who ended up locked in against their will.

LAST SATURDAY MISSION IN RAIN

But that didn't stop us--well some. The puppies are growing so fast and are now learning to eat by themselves.

But a little drink now and then doesn't hurt. Jackie out great volunteer made sure that everything is clean blankets and their little house.

It is not a glamorous job, picking poop after 85 dogs....Brandy did a great job!

Pio an Italian volunteer is at the shelter every Saturday, early morning until late afternoon. Him and Martina (another IT great volunteer) are fantastic.

Todd found the other puppies that were abandoned in a church.

It was a lot of Amore in the rain. Thank you AWL volunteers; Jackie, Lindy, Eric, Todd, Mark, Brandy, Mia, Kristin.

MISSION POSSIBLE

Late afternoon drove AWL out the fridge, and it was a horrible weather. It rained cats and dogs--bad joke--the weather broke the sunscreen down.

Rossella was so touched for the gift from you all --see yesterdays blog--and I also want to thank you all who forwarded the e mails about "shelter in need".

This is where AWL had their Cleaning Mission 3. This time we focused on the dogs, and most of them loved it. It was a wet Amore day. And, the volunteers did all the work brilliant.

Dog Walking Mission Success!

Big AWL thanks to every one of the approximately 70 people who showed up to walk the shelter dogs on Saturday, 1 August. What an amazing turnout! We I know the dogs really appreciated the exercise, attention and affection you all provided.

Shelter Mission 1 = Amore

We AWL had a nice day together, and enjoyed spending our time together with the dogs. It was very re-warding

Bruce and Rosa gave the dogs a lot of Amore, and played with them.

It was wonderful with all the dogs. So much love.

I wanted of course to bring them home....so difficult.

At the very end of the shelter, they had a pet cemetery. It was a heartbreaking/warming day.

Mission 2 will be held August 1. More food and a lot of dog-walkers, another Amore day. I know the dogs will be giving us a lot of joy, like always.

AWL - Shelter Cleaning Mission

Animals Without Limits mobilized volunteers from the US Navy and NATO communities here to help clean another area shelter and take care of the dogs there. This shelter was in much better condition than the "terrible shelter" in January, but had taken in many of those "terrible shelter" dogs, filling the shelter beyond designed capacity.

Thank you all great volunteers for today's mission. You did all a truly wonderful job.

Dareen did an excellent grooming job, cutting the fur.

Vania and her husband with friends (3), you did a tough job very well.

Cleaning and brushing the dogs. Washing their cages and houses. Many were emotionally touched by the dogs and we hope we gave them a sunny day. They sure gave us a lot of Amore.

The dog "Fiora" was quickly everyone's favorite. Abandoned with her brother by their English owner when they moved to Hawaii (actually left them in their vacant apartment!!). She is around two years-old and so affectionate and well behaved. This dog truly deserves an owner to love forever!

In total, the team finished cleaning and taking care of approximately 70 dogs, and cleaning their cages (around 20). We plan to go out again in 3 weeks to finish the job, and hopefully power-wash the pens as well.
