TIGRE OUR CASA DELL'AMORE NONNA HAS LEFT US

Tigre our old hospice girl couldn’t be saved any longer.

Her soul was stronger than our power to save her body, so we let her go to her other friends across the Rainbow Bridge.

My heart ached together with so many other volunteers; Tigre had been with us for a long time at the hospice Casa dell’Amore. She and her husband Angelo came to our hospice as one off our first clients. We loved this old little Neapolitan woman, strong and powerful as she escorted her blind husband Angelo around their new home. They had never lived inside a house before, at least not that we know. She and Angelo lived together with a pack of stray dogs out in the freedom of the streets of Napoli, they were happy out on the streets together with a man who also lived on the streets. The people saw them every day and it was a normal sight, everything was as it should be. Some people gave them food, some gave them a blanket others gave the man a little money. One day we got a message; the man had become very ill and had to be taken away to the hospital. The pack was left longing after their leader, confused over what had happen. The pack was threatened to be caught and put in one of the horrible shelters. They’d be in cages and be fed once in a while. Some people who didn’t like the dogs threatened to poison them.

We said yes to Tigre and Angelo, welcoming them to their new home at the new hospice.

We smiled when the couple came and were astounded by how Tigre pushed her crusty nose at Angelo’s back legs—left back leg If he had to go to the left—right back legs for him to turn to the right. She guided him around, orienting him to his new environment. After one week he was able to find his way around by himself in the house.  It seemed Tigre considered her job complete, she moved out to the handsome Dicky, another client, and laid close to him very happy.  Angelo didn’t seem to mind the loss of his wife.

Later on Dicky got sick and had to go across the Rainbow Bridge; a couple of months later, it was Angelo’s turn to take that final journey.

Tigre was a strong Neapolitan female that survived (at least) two husbands.  One morning recently, Tigre had a seizure, and she was rushed to the veterinarian clinic where Dr. Damiani performed all the examinations. When the results came back and we had the full understanding of the condition Tigre was in, confused and in pain, we had to let her go. Tigre is now together with all her husbands and she is so missed by many of us, our little Neapolitan with the crusty nose.

Rest in Peace, Our Love.

Thank you to all the volunteers through the time at the hospice who have been there helping and loving.
Martina and Angy, you were at Dr Damiani’s clinic making sure she wasn’t alone, thank you.
Mia adored Tigre and one of her long time friends that meant so much to her.
And to all you wonderful followers on FB, for your support, love and thoughts ---thank you--- it means the world to us. I know that Tigre would agree on everything I said. She was full of Amore, our Tigre Nonna!

WINTER IN LAGO PATRIA

Time to try on the clients winter jackets. Stiff hips and cold wind can make it harder for our hospice clients. Stella is a hot dog babe in her new jacket.
Dusty looks a little uncomfortable but this is her first winter together with AWL Hospice
Another winter, thinks Tigro our girl.
Whisky, one of Martina's rescue dogs thinks he is the most gorgeous boy in Italy. We agree!

If you would like to send care packages with winter cloths or snacks, you can contact info@animalswithoutlimits.com for address.

That's warm Amore!

A COLORFUL DAY AT HOSPICE "CASA DELL' AMORE"

An Amazing colorful team came out last Saturday and did a fantastic change inside our rehab/hospice (Casa ell'Amore) with warm colors.

Gina with husband Werner joined, and worked very hard with picking stones, filling all the wholes that Benny and BB had been digging for quiet some time. A danger to Zamira and Angelo, since they couldn't see them and could twist their legs in the holes. It was a very hot day 97 F

Jason brought his team with him, Abbie, Maranda, Ginger, Alexia and Nick and they worked hard the whole day.

A warm sunny color to brighten the clients' mood up, and of course we volunteers too.

Rocket-Zamira was very interested in keeping an eye so that everything went well. At the end she got a white tail!

We had a great time sprucing up the Casa, and finished with Pizza and drinks for lunch.

From our fish's perspective from the bowl.

In between brushes, a moment of love. Benny and all the other clients were in Earthly Heaven

Lenny our loyal, wonderful volunteer painted outside in the heat. We were amazed. She is 15 years old but already full of responsibility and commitment. Amore Loyality!

By late afternoon, were we all exhausted, even those who got tons of treats and love. Thank you all for your amazing help. You are true, colorful Amore.

Jason Newbold the teamleader, Abbey Smith, Maranda Green, Ginger Barlow, Alexia Acker, Nick Alumbaugh; Lenny Smith, Gina and Werner Rauchenstein, and my family. Teamwork and love... that's amore.

GLITTERING JEWELRY CHARITY

AWL's Hospice had its first, small charity party with a lot of beautiful glittering jewelry, both for women and their beloved dogs. AWL wants to specially thank Martina Ricci and Chiarra Ricci for their fantastic collection, all hand-made. What was very touching and big, they donated half their income from the sale of their jewelry to the Hospice! We are so thankful for their generosity and support, their love for the rehab/hospice animals is so big.

Photographer Alessandro de Falco donated approximately 20 framed pictures for sale, and he took portraits of all the Casa dell'Amore clients. What a fantastic, big heart.
Angelina had baked and sold many of her delicious marmalade or chocolate cookies and donated all the money to the hospice. What a generous team. We love you, that's amore! We also want to share a big hug and thank you to Patty who made cupcakes and brought punch with her. Always a great volunteer. Angelina's sister came with mini pizza and other finger food. Tatiania with the most amazing fudge, it went down quick. Dog food came delivered by Wendy, Kimberly & husband and Lynn. Lori donated a big crate and had a lot of cactus and succulents with her, that she and my children planted. All you who came and bought and mingled, thank you for showing up. You all are our Amore supporters for those who love us unconditionally back, whatever we do and whatever flaws we have.
